Has it really been ten years? WOW! I have been a letterboxer eight of those ten years, and how I wish I had been a part of it since the beginning! If it had not been for to brothers, who had a vision for a hiking/treasure hunting adventure, who knows where we would be today. Thanks to "The TALE Brothers" Silver Eagle and Baby Bear, Texas letterboxing has came a long way! There are so many memories, it is hard to put into words all the fun and adventures we have had looking for those little plastic boxes hidden out on the woods. I have been to places I never would have known about had it not been for this hobby. (some call it an obsession, and I have to agree!) I love where it has taken me, and oh the people I have met! Eagles, bears, butterflies, viewfinders, puddle splashers, bell motels, frosty maidens, gryzzled gryphons, blooming grandma's, Quilters, barefoot Lucy's and a Texan with boots (surprised at that one huh?) so many others! What a wonderful group!

As I sit here and reflect on the event this year, I am so glad to be a Texas Letterboxer! We had a great time, and the weather was great! Well, except it was really cold during the night! We left Friday morning ready to get to the park, find our shelter and get things set-up for the week-end. We did not box any that evening, but were off to Bastrop to enjoy an evening meal with those who had made the trip down that day. Texas Grill was a great venue to have this TALEGATE!A room all to our selves, and the servers were very attentive to our needs.
Saturday morning, we enjoyed visiting with LSQ and Boots over coffee and cinnamon rolls that melt in your mouth! Then, we were off to collect our gear and chili so we could make our way to the hall where all the boxers were gathering for the day. There were lots of exchanges, meeting new boxers, event stamps along with a slide show by Baby Bear of the history of the last ten years of Texas Letterboxing. Nice walk down memory lane.
After lunch, group picture, and raffle drawing, we set out to find some treasures. Mother's Love and Hershey (my little dog) hit the trail and had a great time stamping in and collecting new images for our logbooks. Afterwards, it was back to the Recreation Hall for more conversations and clean-up. Baby Bear built a fire in the fireplace while we all talked about our adventures of the day.
Sunday morning Lucy Locket, Mother's Love and I decided to do a little boxing before we made our way back home. We packed everything up so we could leave as soon as we finished boxing for the day. After finding a box or two, Mother's Love decided she needed to get home and so we said goodbye to her. LL and I drove to Smithville to a nice little cafe called "Pockets" fro lunch. This little cafe has great food! After taking a break, and enjoying the food at Pockets, we hit the trail one more time. We had so much fun finding boxes and meeting other boxers on the trail while they too were getting that last box before heading home.
Great time was had by all, and we are looking forward to the next time we are all together again.
Happy Boxing!
